Managing height and zone tools

Last updated: 23 December 2025 16:29 BST

The height and zone tools are used to control building heights and zoning regulations within a project. They enable the definition of height limits and zoning areas, helping to ensure the design aligns with local regulations and project requirements.

Access to the height and zone tools is provided through the Set up site option in the main menu. These tools allow for the control and adjustment of building heights, aligning the design with regulatory and project-specific constraints.

Height limit zones

  • Draw height limit zone manually outline areas where specific height restrictions apply.
  • Edit height limit zone shape adjust the boundaries of an existing height limit zone.
  • Edit height limit zone elevation modify the permitted height for a zone.
  • Delete height limit zone remove a specific height restriction.

Zoning areas

  • Draw zoning area define zones with specific regulations or land use requirements.
  • Edit zoning area adjust the boundaries or attributes of an existing zone.
  • Delete zoning area remove a zone to redefine or eliminate constraints.

Zoning is particularly useful in mixed-use developments or sites with varying land use requirements.

Managing multiple height and zone configurations

Complex projects may require multiple layers of zoning and height limits. These can be applied, edited, and visualised together to accommodate diverse regulatory conditions.

The sitesolve interface displays zones and height limits clearly, making it easier to identify overlaps, understand how different regulations interact, and resolve potential conflicts during the design process.

Importing predefined height restrictions

If height restrictions are predefined, they can be imported from dxf or fbx files. Use select height limit mesh, set mesh as height limit, or set mesh face as height limit to apply imported data and ensure precise control over building heights across the site.
