Add your views from a CSV

Last updated: 11 June 2026 13:21 BST

Importing camera views from a CSV file is an additional functionality, designed to complement the primary method of manually placing cameras. This feature speeds up the process by allowing users to upload camera data in CSV format. VU.CITY 3D app then converts this data into camera views, which is particularly useful for users who already have predetermined camera settings.

This feature is particularly useful for scenarios where users need to reuse the same set of views across multiple projects, add numerous views at once, or import views created in other applications. It also aids in recreating views from technical documentation or when set views are provided by external parties, such as town planners. This functionality streamlines the workflow, ensuring efficiency and consistency in managing camera views.

  1. Prepare the CSV File
Download the CSV template provided or ensure your file matches the required format.

  2. Upload CSV File
Upload your CSV file to the Project Drive in the Hub.

  3. Import into VU.CITY
    • Launch the project in the 3D app.
    • Click on Camera and then Import Cameras.

  5. Review Imported Cameras
    • The camera views will appear in the list, numbered sequentially after any existing views.
    • Enter each view and save to populate camera thumbnails.
  • CSV formatting

Ensure the CSV follows this format:

  1. Number: Order in the list.
  2. Name: Camera name.
  3. Eastings, Northings: Coordinate values in meters.
  4. AOD: Above Ordnance Datum value in meters.
  5. Bearing: Value from 0-360 degrees.
  6. Pitch: Value from +90 to -90 degrees.

  8. Datetime: VU.CITY time and date of the sun.
  9. Foliage: Indicates whether trees and leaves are on.
