Timeline
Last updated: 23 December 2025 16:29 BSTThe Timeline tool provides a dynamic way to explore both historical and future urban development. Allows to view past configurations of the city to understand how the landscape has evolved over time, while also incorporating proposed and consented developments to visualise future changes. Through an interactive slider, specific years or time ranges can be selected to generate detailed visualisations of the urban environment at each stage. The tool also supports scenario planning, enabling comparisons between different development outcomes to assess their potential long-term impacts.
Using the Timeline
The Timeline tool allows users to explore how the city changes over time, visualising developments by stage and reviewing key project details.
- Open the Timeline
Open the Developments menu and select Timeline to enable the timeline view. - Navigate through time
Adjust the timeline slider to move forward or backward in time. Use the arrow buttons for smaller increments. The model will update dynamically to reflect development progress at the selected point in time. - Understand building status
Building colour indicates development status:- Light grey – Existing buildings (part of the base model, completed before the timeline begins)
- Dark grey – Completed after the start of the timeline
- Blue – Under construction at the selected time
- Yellow – Consented but not yet under construction
- Filter by development status
Use the colour-coded tick boxes to control visibility of different development types:- All Visible
- Consented (Yellow)
- Under Construction (Blue)
- Completed (Dark Grey)
- Display development information
Enable Info Points to show clickable markers on developments added after the timeline start. Selecting a marker opens a panel with information including:- Development name

- Borough and postcode
- Application number
- Sector
- Residential unit count
- Estimated construction start date
- Optional: Use greyscale for clarity
