Request city model split

Last updated: 23 December 2025 16:29 BST

Our models are designed to provide high-quality, accurate representations of various areas. In densely built urban layouts where buildings are often closely packed together it's often difficult to assess where one building ends and another begins. Another reason behind why our models are sometimes build in large chunks is model optimisation for performance - splitting the geometry into separate entities for each building would increase the model loading time and affect performance.

Using the Hide tool

If you encounter an issue where attempting to hide parts of the geometry inadvertently results in an entire quarter being selected, our Hide Tool is here to assist. It is designed to help you manage and segment the model for easier navigation and manipulation.

Select the geometry

  • Use the hide tool to select the part of the model you want to hide.
  • If an entire quarter gets selected instead of a single building, try the plot selection area option.

Hide the selected part

  • Once you have selected the correct part of the model, use the hide function to temporarily remove it from view.
  • This can help you work on specific areas without the distraction of surrounding structures.

Requesting permanent splits

In rare cases where the hide tool is not sufficient for your needs, you can request a permanent split of the model.

Report the issue

  • Use the Request Support form located in the top-right corner of the knowledge base.
  • Fill out all required fields in the form, including the specific location and attach screenshots or photos to illustrate the split.

After you submit your report, our team will review the information and work on splitting the geometry as needed. We may reach out for additional details if required.
