Exporting files and data

Last updated: 23 December 2025 16:29 BST

Exporting from SiteSolve makes it easy to share project results, work with other software, and continue analysis elsewhere. You can export 3D geometry, numerical data, or project input settings in different formats to suit your needs.

Exporting a JSON file saves current project’s input settings so they can be reused in other projects or kept for documentation. This helps maintain consistent setups across projects and makes it simple to share configurations with others.

Export formats

SiteSolve supports the export of data in the following formats:

  • DXF: For 3D geometry and models, compatible with CAD and BIM software.
  • CSV: For exporting key numerical data and dwelling unit data.
  • JSON: For exporting input settings.

Saving the project

Use the Save or Save As options on the File toolbar to preserve the current project state. Save updates the existing file, while Save As creates a new file, keeping all stored design options and settings intact.

Exporting 3D geometry (DXF)

  1. Navigate to File in the main menu.
  2. In the Export menu select Export as DXF to export 3D geometry.
  3. After choosing a save location, selecting the options and confirming the action, the currently displayed massing is exported.

This format ensure compatibility with various CAD and BIM software.

Exporting key design data (CSV)

  1. Navigate to File in the main menu.
  2. In the Export menu select Export as CSV to generate a CSV file containing key numerical data for each stored design option in the current document.
  3. After selecting the phase, choosing a save location and confirming the action, the file can be used for further analysis in spreadsheet software.

Exporting unit data (CSV)

  1. Navigate to File in the main menu.
  2. In the Export menu select Export units to CSV to generate a CSV file containing key numerical data for each stored design option in the current document.
  3. After choosing a save location and confirming the action, it generates a CSV file with data for each individual dwelling unit in the selected design option.

Exporting unit data (JSON)

  1. Navigate to File in the main menu.
  2. In the Export menu select Export units to JSON to generate a JSON file containing key numerical data for each stored design option in the current document.
  3. After choosing a save location and confirming the action, it saves a JSON file with data for each individual dwelling unit in the selected design option.

Exporting input settings (JSON)

  1. Navigate to File in the main menu.
  2. In the Export menu select Export input settings to save the current input settings in JSON format.
  3. After choosing a save location and confirming the action, the resulting JSON file will contain all the input settings for the current project, ready for use in future projects or for sharing.
Data backup

Regular backups of the project prior to exporting ensure that the original data remains intact and recoverable in case of any issues during the export process.
