Data storage and file handling
Last updated: 23 December 2025 16:29 BSTAll SiteSolve projects are created, accessed and stored through the VU.CITY Hub. This article outlines how data is handled and how users can manage exports and file access.
Project data storage
All project data is stored securely in the cloud and linked to the user’s Hub account. This includes geometry, site configurations, input settings, massing options and analysis results. There is no need to save files to your local drive or manage project folders locally.
Projects are automatically retained between sessions and can be accessed from any supported browser on any compatible machine, as long as the user is signed in with the same Hub credentials.
Collaboration and project access
Access to SiteSolve projects is managed through the VU.CITY Hub’s project settings. By default, the project creator controls who can view or edit a project, and can restrict visibility to themselves or share it with selected team members.
In some organisations, the workspace settings may be configured to allow organisation administrators to access all projects by default. This is controlled via the organisation’s admin and project preferences and is typically used to support internal governance or oversight.
Even when these settings are enabled, project data remains restricted to users within the same organisation. No users from outside the organisation can access a project unless they are explicitly invited by the project creator or an admin. Cross-organisation visibility is never enabled by default.
Security
All project data is encrypted in transit and stored in secure cloud environments. SiteSolve does not store any personal files on the user’s machine unless a file is manually exported. No data is transmitted or stored outside of user-controlled actions.
