Drawing blocks and footprints

Last updated: 23 December 2025 16:29 BST

SiteSolve allows users to manually create and position buildings using 2D and 3D draw tools. These tools provide flexibility to define building forms and footprints directly within the project, helping visualise layouts and test site configurations before running generative analyses.

3D building drawing

To draw buildings in 3D, navigate to Create in the main menu and select Draw Buildings (3D). From here, you can select the type of building to add to your site:

  • Apartment block
  • Tower
  • Housing row
  • Linear office block
  • Office block perimeter
  • Podium

These options let users place and scale buildings in three dimensions, providing a realistic view of how structures will sit within the site context.

2D footprint drawing

To draw buildings in 3D, navigate to Create in the main menu and select Draw Building Footprints. You can then select the footprint type:

  • Apartment block
  • Tower
  • Linear office block
  • Office boundary block

Drawing footprints in 2D is useful for quickly outlining building positions and sizes on the site, providing a foundation for massing, analysis, or further design refinement.

Using both 2D and 3D draw tools together enables accurate representation of building forms, supports planning decisions, and helps ensure designs fit within site constraints.
