Exporting your model

Last updated: 11 June 2026 13:21 BST

Exporting your model from VU.CITY allows to continue the design process in other applications like SiteSolve or CAD/BIM software. This guide outlines the steps to export your model, ensuring a seamless transition for further refinement and analysis.

  1. Finalise the model
Ensure your model is complete and all necessary adjustments have been made.

  2. Access the export option
Select the model and click on the Export option in the Create tool menu.

  3. Select export format
Choose the desired file format for export. VU.CITY supports FBX, IFC, and SiteSolve.

  4. Configure export settings
Enable or disable the geolocation as needed.

  5. Save the file
Select the destination folder and save the file. Ensure the file is named appropriately for easy identification.

  6. Verify the export
Open the exported file in the target application to verify that the model has been exported correctly and all elements are intact.

When exporting files, it’s helpful to keep a few practical tips in mind. First, check that the target application supports the chosen file format and export settings to avoid compatibility issues. Once exported, preview the file in the target application to identify any adjustments that may be needed. It’s also good practice to document the export settings used, ensuring consistency and making future exports more efficient.
