Merge
Last updated: 23 December 2025 16:29 BSTThe merging projects feature allows users to combine multiple projects seamlessly. This can be done by merging an entire project into the currently loaded one or by selecting individual parts to merge, providing flexibility in how projects are integrated.
How to use the merging feature
- Load a project
Begin by loading the primary file in VU.CITY. - Access the merge option
Once the save file is loaded, navigate to the merge option in the menu. - Select save file to merge
Choose the save file you wish to merge into the currently loaded one. - Merge entire save file or individual parts
Decide whether to merge the entire save file or select specific parts to integrate. This allows for customisation and selective merging based on the needs of the current save file. - Confirm merge
Confirm the merge operation. The selected save file or parts will then be integrated into the currently loaded session.
Use cases
Combining multiple development phases
Merge different stages of a project (such as concept, design, and review) into a single file to maintain a complete view of progress over time.
Integrating data from multiple sources
Import and consolidate information from various sources (e.g. GIS, manual inputs, or other VU files) to analyse the site or proposal in full context.
Collaborative work
Incorporate contributions from different team members or stakeholders by merging their individual save files into one shared version of the project.
Recovering or reusing autosave files
Merge autosave files into other save files to recover lost progress or to extract specific elements from interrupted sessions (e.g. ZTV outputs).
Merging files allows for greater flexibility by enabling selective integration of only the relevant elements from each source. It also enhances collaboration, making it easier to consolidate input from multiple contributors into a single, cohesive file. By bringing together diverse data sets, merging supports more thorough analysis and better-informed planning decisions.
