Atmospherics and weather
Last updated: 16 June 2026 17:48 BSTAtmospherics and weather settings control the overall look and feel of the environment in a scene. They allow changes to the weather state and adjustments to effects like fog, light scattering, and sky brightness, making it possible to test how a site appears under different conditions.
Adjusting atmospheric and weather settings
To adjust these settings:
- Open the scene manager and select a scene.
- In the scene list, select design options to open the properties panel on the right.
- Under weather, choose one of four preset conditions:
- clear skies
- sun with clouds
- overcast
- rain
- Fine-tune the atmosphere using the following sliders (0–100 scale)
- fog density
- scattering
- sky colour intensity
Changes are applied immediately and reflected in the scene. Settings can be updated across multiple scenes at once by selecting more than one scene before making changes. Atmospheric and weather settings are stored per scene.
Differences and similarities with the legacy VU.CITY App
- Previously, atmospheric settings and weather were accessed via the side toolbar. In the new VU.CITY app, these controls are located in the properties panel under design options, making them always visible when the panel is open.
- Weather options remain the same, offering clear, cloudy, overcast, and rainy skies, with the same visual icons as before.
- Atmospheric sliders for fog, scattering, and sky colour Intensity behave identically to the previous app, maintaining the same range (0-100) and update behaviour.
- Changes are applied immediately and visible in the scene.
