Upload data and files
Last updated: 16 June 2026 17:48 BSTIn the new Hub setup, files are uploaded to the drive prior to loading in the 3D app, providing safe storage, consistent organisation, and easy traceability for all collaborating users.
Once files are uploaded, the new file pipeline processes them according to their type, enabling efficient handling and optimised performance across Hub and the 3D app. Different types of content are treated according to their role and format:
Data layers
Files in GeoJSON format used for visualising data queries are processed to appear correctly in the 3D app.
Locations
GeoJSON files representing locations are handled separately to support rapid navigation and querying, making it important to select the correct dataset type.
Models
Files in FBX, GLB, or GLTF formats can now be uploaded and visualised in the 3D app. This expands the supported formats beyond the previous FBX type, providing greater flexibility.
Viewpoints
GeoJSON files representing viewpoints are processed according to their specific role, so selecting the most appropriate dataset type ensures correct representation in the 3D app.
Other files
Images, PDFs, and similar formats can be uploaded for previewing directly in Hub, though they are not visualised in the 3D app.
This structured pipeline ensures that all files are handled appropriately according to their type, making them easier to locate, access, and manage across the organisation while maintaining proper permissions and traceability.
