Viewpoint properties panel
Last updated: 24 June 2026 18:53 BSTThe viewpoint properties panel is the viewpoint-specific form of the properties panel. Within the panel, position, orientation, and camera settings can be previewed and amended. It has two tabs, Basic and Advanced, which describe the same viewpoint at different levels of detail.
Choosing a level of control
The depth of control over a viewpoint is a matter of preference. The Basic tab presents the essential settings in an approachable form, while the Advanced tab exposes detailed camera, lens, and effect controls for finer adjustment. Both tabs describe the same viewpoint, so the choice depends on how much control is wanted, not on which viewpoint is being edited.
The following settings appear on both the Basic and Advanced tabs:
- Lock to target
- Move with topography
- Easting (m), Northing (m), and AOD (m)
- Bearing ° and Pitch °
- Image overlay
- Crop
These define where the viewpoint sits, how it is oriented, and whether it stays fixed to its target. Changes are applied immediately, allowing the result to be assessed in the main view.
